The Rogue Sun
No one invited him. When the alliance gathered against Old Thamari, the Rogue Sun simply came, a fire Asè who wanted to meet the fire Asès of Thamari until one of them stopped. White-haired and bearded, an open palm marked with a red sun, he walks on a cloud of black and crimson smoke and ember. His fire is the Primordial Flame, which may predate the comets themselves. He is courteous, curious and hungry, and he laughs when he is struck.

On the fifth night of the war he turns the night sky white. He fuses Fushi's fist shut with a ring of scar shaped like a sun with no rays and takes Selabẹ́'s right ear.
His fate is never settled. After the last day there is only a bruise-coloured half-circle of glass. The tablets say he burned; the ledger says he withdrew; a carter tells of a man with a ruined left hand walking north.
